A Girl Named Happiness

Rode through the sunset
Happy as I ever been
There’s been some dark nights
Where I needed a friend

I tried so many times to sleep
My maker I was trying to meet
Couldn't find no peace
Just needed some relief

Yes, one day I found my joy
In a girl named Happiness
She was waiting for me

Write your thoughts down
Just get it out
You might find
That you figure something out

Yes, one day I found my joy
In a girl named Happiness
She was waiting for me

Yes, one day I found my joy
In a girl named Happiness
She was waiting for me

Lofty Politics

I'm so tired and upset
With your lofty politics
It's in the little things you do
I'm trying to get through to you

If you hear this and you hate
Then I must have struck a chord
It's ok if you get poked
The fire might get stoked

You know you're not in charge
You can rest and take a break
Things can still get done
You can go and have some fun

Just start with today
You might even try and pray
Find meaning and connection
Change your own direction

Just look in the mirror
Your face is full of fear
If you think that you might fall
Pick up the phone and make the call

Make amends and find your fault
Start trying to evolve
From the child you still might be
To a poet making poetry

 Where'd The Time Go?

I used to hold your hand
And watch you play in the sand
At night I'd tuck you in bed
Soft light and a kiss on the head

Where'd the time go?
Where'd the time go?

Some days I need more sleep
We could use a little relief
I can have a real short fuse
I might act like I'm mad at you
But you seem to forgive and forget
I hope you remember that
When you're older I might be gone
My only wish is you keep having fun
And remember that we loved you
That all people have value
And do the best you can
Wake up and start over again

I used to hold your hand
And watch you play in the sand
At night I'd tuck you in bed
Soft light and a kiss on the head

Where'd the time go?
Where'd the time go?

I used to hold your hand
And watch you play in the sand
At night I'd tuck you in bed
Soft light and a kiss on the head

Where'd the time go?
Where'd the time go?
Where'd the time go?

Love Is Greater

I went downtown to the local jail
Hadn't seen my papa in years
He had no one else to pay his bail
Papa broke down in tears

I believe love is greater, love is greater
I believe love is greater, love is greater
Than anything in the world

He said, "you learned about life the hard way
When I left you on your own"
I thought I'd have to wait til he was in his grave
To feel a healing in my bones

I believe love is greater, love is greater
I believe love is greater, love is greater
Than anything in the world

Papa said, I wanna meet my maker
I wanna be with your mama
Burn your bad memories in the incinerator
I'm always gonna be your papa

I believe love is greater, love is greater
I believe love is greater, love is greater
Than anything

I believe love is greater, love is greater
Love is greater, love is greater
Than anything in the world

She Said, The Revolution's Here

I was born of water
She born of sky
Nothing really matters
All we have is time

She said "The revolution's here
She said "The revolution's here

La da da da da da da
La da da da da da da
La da da da da da da da da da

If I lose my faith
If I lose my way
What is the price of grace
If I turn away

She said "The revolution's here”
She said "The revolution's here”

La da da da da da da
La da da da da da da
La da da da da da da da da da

Something has come over me
I'm surrounded by her love
She can see what I can't see
Guided by the voice above

She said "The revolution's here”
She said "The revolution's here”

1st Sweet Kiss

I'm wide awake
Daydreaming about you
In the children's faces
All I see is you

Just gimme that first sweet kiss
Just gimme that first sweet kiss
Just gimme that first sweet kiss
After a long hard day

The curls in your hair
Even when you make it straight
Puts a smile on my face
I just can't wait

Just gimme that first sweet kiss
Just gimme that first sweet kiss
Just gimme that first sweet kiss
After a long hard day

Let’s do it again
Let’s do it again
Let’s do it again
Let’s do it again

Chuggin' Down The Tracks

My baby lives down in New Orleans
Loves to go and play the slot machine
I'm gonna love her night and day
Then I'll catch a plane and fly away

Yeah we're chuggin down the tracks
Chuggin’ down the tracks

Horse back ridin’ down in Santa Fe
Dry heat bakin’ my house of clay
Drivin’ through the desert it's a real good scene
Steamboats callin’ me to New Orleans

Yeah we're chuggin’ down the tracks
Chuggin’ down the tracks

My baby lives down in New Orleans
Loves to go and play the slot machine
Outlaw rebel headed down the track
Headed back to Frisco when the sun comes out

Yeah we're chuggin’ down the tracks
Chuggin’ down the tracks
Yeah we're chuggin’ down the tracks

Looking For A Brighter Day

Blue is all around
Wind stirring the underground
The sun is rising up
My instrument is out of tune
It's hard to play and seen by few
But the sound is pouring out

I'm a man in love
With rhythms played
By tambourines
Looking for a brighter day

I got to get some cool fresh air
Wondering why the wind is here
Smell the taste of freedom
The rain has come and the fire burns
Hurricane pushing through the blazing sun
Kids caught in the flood

Broken roofs are seen
Wall papered trees
Looking for a brighter day

Bones printed on pictured walls
Doors and windows and long white halls
I'm opening them all
The canvases are dark and dyed
Dogs sleeping while the muses fly
The wind is blowing by

Limbs over there
Devastation everywhere
Looking for a brighter day

Looking for a brighter day

The Mountains Are Calling

Let's go the mountains are calling
It's been a long time coming
It's been so hard to keep believing
Just living day to day
Sometimes I lose my faith
Forgot how to pray
Maybe if we get away
Someday I'll say

I'm happy now
The clouds have gone away
We can see clearly now
The pain has faded away

Let's go the mountains are calling
It's such a beautiful day
The clouds are gone and the wind is blowin’
It's time to play

I'm happy now
The clouds have gone away
We can see clearly now
The pain has faded away

No work, no hard conversations
We left them all at home
Time to enjoy vacation
Pursue the unknown

I’m happy now
The clouds have gone away
We can see clearly now
The pain has faded away

Let's go the mountains are calling
Let's go the mountains are calling

The pain has faded away

No Regrets Now

I’ve got rivers to roam
This world is my home
Lose my old ways
I'm ready for change

Let’s cast a line
And kill some time

It’s Saturday night
Stars burning bright
Corn on the grill
Only love is real

unbuckle your shoes
Let's stare at the moon
We're slowing down
No regrets now

Fire by the lake
Home movies to make
A chill's in the air
God's everywhere

Our work is done
We're not on the run
We're slowing down
No regrets now

Listen to the breeze
The language of the leaves
We're slowing down
No regrets now

We're slowing down
No regrets now

Thanks for listening to my record baby
